MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND TOURISM

The opening of the Caucasus front was to stop the Russian attacks, to take back Kars, Ardahan and Batumi from the Russians, to secure the Muslims of the Caucasus and to unite with the Central Asian Turks. Although it is an offensive front, the Caucasus front operation should be seen as a self-defense of a nation. The conditions are extremely severe.

Our soldiers who lost the struggle against cold and typhus during the Sarıkamış operation, fell to the ground in the Allahuekber Mountains. They captured Erzurum, Erzincan, Bitlis, Muş, Van and Trabzon. The clearing and recapture of this area had suddenly become the main target. Starting from Erzincan in the east to Giresun in the west, a cansiperane struggle and struggle started.

The struggle of the Caucasus front continued until 1917 under tough conditions and resulted in the deaths of more than 2 million people. As a result of the war on the Caucasus front, thousands of our people were exiled to Siberia and most of them lost their lives there.

The film Caucasus Remains Forever tells this dramatic story.
